Wapda told to complete electrification schemes in NWFP

Federal Minister for Political Affairs and president of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) NWFP, Engr Amir Muqam has directed the Wapda authorities to forthwith complete electrification schemes launched in NWFP. The federal minister issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of Pesco and Tesco here at his camp office on Thursday.
He said people should benefit from facilities being extended by present government under the dynamic leadership of President Pervez Musharraf. Amir Muqam said President Musharraf and his team believes in practical work and cannot tolerate laxity in issues of public interest.
He said it is a big achievement of present government that a large number of grid stations were set up in NWFP, obsolete transformers were replaced at a large scale and electricity facility is provided to a vast area.
The PML leadership, he continued, will again form the government in the country after upcoming general elections on the basis of its performance. People will re-elect the PML leaders for measures they took for the betterment of masses and development of the country, he reiterated.
The federal minister stressed upon the Wapda authorities to complete all the ongoing electrification projects before next elections as government has released huge amount of funds for this purpose.
Earlier, federal minister for political affairs met with a number of delegations who came from different parts of the province. Talking to the delegations, Amir Muqam said federal government is giving special attention on development of backward areas of NWFP. A web of developmental activities is laid under Khushal Pakistan Programme.
The delegation members expressed their complete confidence in the leadership of PML and assured their full support in next elections. The federal minister also assured a delegation of Wapda employees union that federal government would protect their rights and no recruitment would be made on political basis.
