Partly Facetious: all three admit no mistakes

07 Sep, 2007

"The Cousin says heavens will not fall if the Sharifs come back."
"You know that makes a lot of sense."
"Why does that surprise you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why does it surprise you that the Cousin makes a lot of sense?"
"Isn't he the guy who says Musharraf's continuation as President is critical for the country and..."
"Yes but that is because without Musharraf he would not have been a Chief Minister - a very well-connected hanger-on, maybe, but certainly not a Chief Minister. Not with Nawaz Sharif and certainly not with BB."
"I get it. It's all about self-interest."
"In politics that is the name of the game."
"So now what?"
"Musharraf is saying he will not let the Sharif brothers return."
"So you mean to imply that the executor of Musharraf's orders in Lahore may not be quite as ready to take the brothers on at the airport as he did with Shahbaz Sharif a few years ago."
"Yes and I think the Sharif brothers should land in Lahore instead of in Islamabad."
"I agree and who knows the Cousins may actually go to receive them. I mean hasn't the elder Cousin said Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to return if BB is to be allowed to?"
"BB seems to have lost her will to challenge the writ of the government, as she did as a young woman."
"Rather unrealistic because it is the writ of the Supreme Court that she should beware of."
"Indeed but she has made many blunders in recent weeks and she is not the kind of woman who admits she is wrong."
"That unfortunately is true."
"Nawaz Sharif has that in common with her."
"As does Musharraf."
"Hmmmm, makes one ponder."
"But human beings do change sometimes."
