Information Secretary PPP Sindh Dr Fehmida Mirza has strongly condemned the Dera Ismail Khan Bomb blast. The bomb explosion claimed 18 precious and innocent lives and left many injured. Dr Mirza criticised the government and said it has no strategy to overcome these extremists or suicide bombers.
She observed this was a clear-cut failure of the government to maintain the law and order situation in the country. Meanwhile, Sherry Rehman, the Party's central information secretary, in a press statement, denounced the cold-blooded murder of Advocate Raja Riaz, shot dead in broad daylight in Karachi on Monday.
She described Riaz's murder, along with a virtual attack on the Sindh High Court building by a mob of political activists the same day, brings into question the government's commitment to provide security to the judiciary and civilians.
Sherry said the events triggered widespread protests from the members of the judiciary and the civil society with lawyers going on strike, bringing court proceedings to a halt and leaving thousands of under trial prisoners stranded in the court.
"This was a case of target killing since Riaz, affiliated with the PPP, was well known for his active support to the independence of the judiciary, Sherry said in the statement.
