Under the President and the Prime Minister's programme of "Reaching to the Poorest of the Poors", to provide items of daily use on concession rates through the Ramazan Package, the NWFP Governor Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) launched three mobile utility store units for Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency at Governor's House on Tuesday.
These mobile units comprising three trucks loaded with flour, sugar, edible oil, pulses, dates, baisan etc are meant for Jarobi and Mahmood Kili of Tirah Valley and are first of their kind for this remote area.
These mobile utility stores was sent immediately for the destinations. It is mentioning here that the Tirah Valley is situated at a distance of about seven hours journey from Peshawar. The Governor was informed that two new utility stores are also being opened one each at Jamrud and Torkham shortly with which the total strength of the permanent utility stores in the Agency would reach six. It was added, a total of 31 utility stores are already working in FATA including at least one store at each Agency and Tehsil headquarter.
The Governor desired that a complete list of the locations of existing utility stores should be provided to him. He directed that possibilities for opening more utility stores of similar nature in Fata should also be explored. Malik Ashfaque, Zonal Manager, and S. Mahtab Shah Benori, Regional Manager of Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan were present on the occasion.
