The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has sternly condemned the forceful return of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and tortured of the party workers and termed it as a worst example of violation of fundamental human rights.
The bar's President Ehsan Bohan, in meeting held on Tuesday, condemned the murder of Advocate Raja Riaz and the action of activists of a party against the Sindh High Court, adding they demanded the arrest of culprits. All speakers in the meeting declared the murders of Raja Riaz a state terrorism, adding that the culprits gave the message to the public about their attitude towards the law and its enforcement.
On the occasion the bar decided to perform Ghiabana Nimaz-e-Jinnaza of Raja on September 12 in the bar premises. After meeting members held demonstration protest before the main gate of the Lahore High Court. Among others Secretary Bar Sarfraz Cheema, Ahmed Awais, Azam Nazir, Pervez Inayat, Hafiz Abdur Rehman, Wali Muhammad and others addressed the meeting.
They said that the government and president of Pakistan were involved in all such illegal and terrorist activities. They said the government by exiling Main Nawaz forcibly had committed contempt of court and given an impression that the government did not consider the decision of the courts.
They said such attitude of the government officials towards the constitutional institution had damaged the democracy in the country. They said lawyers were with the bench and they would not accept the insult of the apex court.
They said that lawyer had already succeeded to getting reinstate Chief Justice of Pakistan and they would also continue their struggle for strengthening of democracy in the country and would not allow President Musharaf to bulldoze the democratic institutions.
