Chaudhrys role in country's politics over: PML-F

14 Sep, 2007

"We have been facing the victimisation and harassment of Chaudhrys since very first day in spite of being a part of existing government and an ally of PML-Q," said Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood provincial chief of PML (Functional) while talking to his party men headed by Al-Haj Muhammad Ashraf Qureshi, Vice President of PML-F Punjab on Thursday.
He said that the role of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in the country's politics is over and that they should get prepared to go to the hospital and later to the graveyard, as stated by Pir Pagara. He said that PML-Q chief was crossing his "limits" by issuing derogatory statements against the Supreme Court and criticising the others.
He did not know what is the Supreme Court and what can it do, he maintained. Makhdoom said that Pir Pagara is a leader of our party and he told the Chaudhrys about their position in country's politics.
Commenting on Shujaat's statement that the PML-Q would contest and win the upcoming general elections on the basis of its performance, and get Musharraf re-elected by present assemblies, Ahmed Mehmood said "What they (PML-Q) have done during last five years, everybody knows about that. He (Shujaat) is an ungrateful person. His benefactors too know about his capacity. If he had done something substantial during last five years, General Musharraf would not have seen towards others", he added.
To a question regarding a proposal to nominate Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi as the new PML (Q) president in place of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, he said, "They are constructing castle in the air and there is no ban on that".
In reply to another question about the chances of government-PPP deal, the PML (F) Punjab chief observed that there was no chance of any deal. "There will be no deal now", he said.
