Germany to set up 22 blood banks

Germany is contemplating setting up around 22 blood banks across the country at an estimated cost of 23 million euros to ensure safe blood transfusion after conducting proper clinical screening, official told APP here on Thursday.
Among these, five such blood transfusion centres would be established in Sindh at an estimated cost of eight million euros, said Deputy Manager Programme, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA), Dr Abdul Sattar Nizamani. He said they had suggested to Germany that such regional blood banks should be set up in Sukkur, Larkana and Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, respectively as the rural areas lacked such facilities.
