The Women Development Ministry has launched a pilot project of 'District Resource Centres for Women' in collaboration with Local Government, costing Rs 25.262 million. Sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that utilisation in previous fiscal year remained Rs 9.143 million.
However, cumulative utilisation for the project period amounted to Rs 23.844 million. Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) allocation for 2007-08 is Rs 1.251 million whereas PSDP allocation in previous fiscal year was Rs 9.310 million. Moreover, scheduled completion of the project is June 2008.
Sources said that Departmental Development Working Party(DDWP) approved 10 District Resource Centres (DCRs) to be set up in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, Karachi, Sukkur, Quetta, Jafferabad, Peshawar and Mardan. District Resource Centres in Sukkur, Sargodha, Dir and Mardan have not yet been completed, they added.
The Ministry also started IT training for elected woman representatives in Local Government with total cost of Rs 15.410 million. The Departmental Development Working Party approved the project 4 years ago. PSDP allocation under fiscal year 2007-08 is Rs 1.341 million whereas Public Sector Development Programme allocation in previous fiscal was Rs 3.763 million and the scheduled completion month is December 2007, they said.
