15 Sep, 2007

The AJK government is taking various steps to boost the business sector including the cottage industries in Azad Jammu Kashmir, official sources said. The sources told APP here on Friday that the government emphasised the need for maximum utilisation of local raw material to boost industry in AJK by both private and public-sector business institutions.
The government is of the view that since a big portion of income in form of suitable profit could be generated through the maximum utilisation of locally-produced raw material on the business grounds the state-run departments of AKLASC, Forest and Industries have been directed to focus fullest attention to achieve the task.
The AJK government has directed the management of Azad Kashmir Logging and Sawmills Corporation to focus for enlarging the functioning of the AKLASC mills by producing quality furniture and other wooden products - since the world's best furniture and other related wooden products for buildings could be made of the highly valuable and quality timber available in AJK to earn massive income for the national exchequer, the sources said.
