Afghan Transit Trade Group has called for allowing the usage of private trucks for timely transportation of Afghanistan bound goods brought under Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) from Karachi to Amangarh Dryport.
The demand has been made during meeting of a seven-member delegation of Afghan Transit Trade Group with Commander Headquarters, National Logistic Cell (NLC) Brigadier Faheem Ahmad in his office at Amangarh Dryport.
The delegation led by president, Afghan Transit Trade Group, Haji Gul Afzal Shinwari was comprised of Farooq Ahmad, Haji Khairullah, Shakeel Ahmad, Abdul Hameed Gurwara, Arooj Ahmad Ansari, and chairman Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) standing committee on Railways and Dryport, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi.
The delegates briefed Brigadier Faheem Ahmad regarding problems confronted by the group and presented suggestions for their resolution. The proposals and suggestions presented by the group included collection of fare on the basis of weight and fare package for battery cells, cooking oil, moblyle and other items like sugar package.
They also called for ensuring of the check-ins and checkouts of the NLC trucks within a period of ten days and allowing the transport facility of private trucks like Chaman Pak-Afghan border from Amangarh Dryport also.
The traders also expressed apprehensions on the construction of NLC Terminal at Jamrud Khyber Agency. Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, who is also member executive, Sarhad Chamber raised the matter of security at Jamrud NLC Terminal.
He said that the protection of the goods is the responsibility of NLC and called for strategy to deal with the matters of theft and other unpleasant incidents on Peshawar bound goods from Karachi. He further presented suggestions and proposals for protective supply of the goods brought under Afghan Transit Trade, review on the fares of NLC and timings during the holy month of Ramazan.
