Pakistan's defence products are world class

15 Sep, 2007

Products manufactured by the Pakistan defence industries are world class and offer competitive prices without compromising on the quality. "The defence industries are competing with the best in the world and we are duly proud of their achievements."
Defence Secretary Kamran Rasool told APP during the course of his visit to the Pakistani stalls at International Defence and Systems Exhibition, which concluded on Friday at the London Expo Centre.
The Defence Secretary appreciated the role of the private sector in meeting the defence requirements of the armed forces and said its contribution had been significant. He noted that private sector all over the world played a strong role in contributing to the defence production.
Rasool said this was the first time in any international arms fair that various components of Pakistan defence industries had been placed together, which had helped to generate interest and drawn inquiries from the different parties. He said the government would continue to support and facilitate private sector engaged in the production of defence items. "We are moving towards giving private sector more and more responsibility."
The Defence Secretary also noted that participation by both public and private sectors in this kind of mega event assisted in providing meaningful exposure and introduction of the products.
Responding to a question, Rasool said no new date had been fixed for the next round of Secretary level talks with India on matters relating to defence issues. He said talks on withdrawal of troops from Siachen and the demarcation of border along Sir Creek in Sindh were the ongoing process but so far no new dates had been scheduled.
