Telenor Pakistan has outperformed its competitors in the first ever bid held to extend its network coverage to 1,283 under-served muzas in Malakand division. The Universal Service Fund (USF) that has been created by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications held the bid.
Only two operators, Telenor Pakistan and PTCL, were short-listed for the auction where Telenor Pakistan's bid was the lowest. The subsidy for the project will be provided from the USF. Telecom operators contribute annually to the USF. Telenor Pakistan is 100 percent owned by Telenor ASA.-PR
