AJK Accountability Bureau probes 873 corruption cases

Azad Jammu Kashmir Accountability Bureau held inquiries into 873 cases of corruption, malpractice and irregularities besides holding investigation into 341 similar cases in response to a total of 6734 complaints about corruption, nepotism and violation of law - lodged with the Bureau till June this year, it was officially declared here Monday.
Unveiling the performance of the AJK Accountability Bureau, an official report issued by the Bureau here said that from the very first day of its emergence, the AJK Accountability Bureau took effective action against various influential persons involved in corruption, malpractice, irregularities, nepotism and blatant violation of law. 'Irrespective of the prejudice of Baradarism, tribalism and political affiliations, the Bureau brought accountable, under the Accountability Act, those responsible of plundering national exchequer, misusing powers, dereliction of duties indiscriminately under the rules and law", the report added.
It continued that besides 6734 complaints landed in the bureau, the bureau filed a total of 126 references in two Accountability Courts of AJK by the end of June 2007.
