A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here Monday on a complaint over use of activated cellular sims directed Secretary Ministry of Information and Technology and authorities of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to appear in the next hearing and apprise the Apex Court whether a policy in this regard was in place.
DSP Rawalpindi Rana Shahid Pervez appeared in person and said that he confronted problems while tracing criminals with the help of activated sims. The bench while issuing notices to the concerned authorities observed that PTA and six cellular companies required to clarify the backlog of the activated sims. The case was adjourned for November 5.
