Sixteen policemen of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have been sent back to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police due to un-satisfactory performance and complaints of misbehaviour, it was officially learnt here on Wednesday.
A new list of honest and competent officers working in Islamabad police have been sent to the city police chief for filling the gap thus caused, the sources added. At the time of ITP's inauguration, the cops from ICT Police were selected for service in ITP with the pledge of allowances and fringe benefits to them, while more than 158 deputationists from all over the country were inducted in the force.
The sources said that more than 50 deputationists in ITP were also being sent back to their parent departments after formal permission from their heads. Among those 50 deputationists, 35 are being sent on their own request and 15 for un-satisfactory performance.
Presently, there is a deficiency of 90 people in ITP, while more than 50 deputationists would be sent back after permission of respective Inspectors General of Police, the sources maintained.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Zubair Hashmi said the expansion plan of ITP involved recruitment of up to 540 cops to live to the expectations of people, besides meeting the growing needs for 10 long years. "This is our desire that ITP is transformed into an institution with various units, sufficient resources and strong footing," he added.
ITP will formally request the Ministry of Interior to implement this expansion plan and allow recruitment of more cops. To a question, he said the refresher courses were being arranged for the cops for inculcating polite attitude amongst them.
