Chief Justice sets up larger bench, six other benches

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted a 9-member larger bench and six other benches of the Supreme Court for the next week starting from Monday for hearing of hundreds of cases at Islamabad.
According to the cause list issued by the fixture department of the Supreme Court, the larger bench comprising Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Falak Sher, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and Justice M Javed Buttar will hear constitutional petitions about holding of two office by the President.
Among the six other benches, Bench-I comprises Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Jamshed Ali Shah. Bench-II comprises Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar. Bench-III consists of Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan. Bench-IV comprises Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Justice Falak Sher and Justice M Javed Buttar. Bench-V includes Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday and Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed. Bench-VI is made up of Justice Tassaddaque Hussain Jillani and Justice Ghulam Muhammad Rabbani.
It is pertinent to mention here that bench II, III and IV will hear cases after the larger bench. The fixture department has already mentioned on the top of cause list that "No application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the court. If the counsel is unable to appear for any reason the advocate-on-record will be required to argue the case."
