Presidential polls vital for country: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that the coming presidential election was very important for the country and its political calendar. He was addressing a meeting of the parliamentarians from Sindh at the Chief Minister House here on Saturday.
The President of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Federal Information Minister Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani, federal and provincial ministers, senators, MNAs, MPAs were also present on the occasion.
Shaukat Aziz pointed out that President Pervez Musharraf has a very important role in the headway that has been made during the past eight years. He said that we all benefited from the leadership and wisdom of President Musharraf. We all have been brought on a single platform.
The Prime Minister said that he had an important and detailed meeting with Pir Saheb of Pagara here on Saturday in which he (Pir Saheb Pagara) announced unconditional support for the president's election. Shaukat Aziz said that the presidential election was very important for the country, its people as well as the PML.
On the occasion he appealed to the parliamentarians on his behalf as well as that of President Musharraf and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain that they should vote for President Musharraf in the coming presidential election. The Prime Minister said that the PML government had given a lot to the country and with the consistency, which Inshallah would continue, we would do still more for Pakistan.
He also pointed out that there were some who were indulging in negative politics and talking of resignations. Many of them are those who were in the forefront for the 17th amendment and had signed every page of that. Now we reminded them that they were those who had got the amendment passed from the Assembly and because of that the process had moved ahead.
Shaukat Aziz said that he would not comment on the matter, which is subjudice. He stated that whatever they were doing was in accordance with the law and the constitution and added that the supremacy of parliament was necessary in any system. The Prime Minister said that what the PML needed the most was the unity.
