The President of PML(F) and spiritual head of Hurs, Pir Pagara, Saturday announced his full support to the re-election of President Pervez Musharraf. He announced his unflinching support in a meeting with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here at Kingri House.
The Prime Minister who flew in here from Islamabad in the afternoon, drove straight to Kingri House where he held one-to-one meeting with Pir Saheb which continued for about 45 minutes. Later talking to newsmen the Prime Minister said that Pir Saheb assured his full support in the President's election and co-operation during the general election.
When asked whether Maulana Fazlur Rehman will cooperate with the government, the Prime Minister asked the questioner to put this question to Maulana. "We believe in national political reconciliation", Shaukat Aziz said and added "we want co-operation from all for the benefit of country".
He said those who believe in negative politics, would not do any good to the country and rather they are causing damage to the country. "It is negative politics", he remarked when asked about his views on the resignations of opposition. He said those who do not see success are pursuing this path.
"We need positive thinking as we have to strengthen the country and democratic traditions", he stated. Shaukat Aziz pointed out that politics of resignations is being pursued by those who had taken part in law making. They are the ones who had taken part in carrying out 17th Amendment in the Constitution and now are talking about politics of resignations.
He said the people of Pakistan are now politically conscious and are aware that those people who passed the Amendment law, today have forgotten what they had done.
Replying to newsmen questions about his unconditional support, Pir Pagara said that his party had always been supporting the government and there is nothing new in it.
When asked as to what was the reason of his support, the PML(F) Chief reiterated that he had always been with the GHQ. He told a questioner that President Pervez Musharraf is sure to win with the blessings of Allah. To a question, Pir Pagara said those who are talking about resignations, don't want to see the country stable and try to create impediments in the way of democracy.
