Export of cotton yarn has declined by seven percent during August 2007, according to official statistics. During August, the country exported cotton yarn worth 121.673 million dollars as compared to 130.477 million dollars during the same period of the 2006 financial year, depicting a decline of 8.804 million dollars.
Similarly, during the first two months of the current fiscal year, ie July-August 2007, cotton yarn export stood at 244.376 million dollars as against 243.485 million dollars during the same period of the 2006 last fiscal year.
This shows an increase of less than one-percent or 891 million dollars. Month-on-month basis, export of yarn registered a decline of 0.84 percent during August as compared to 122.703 million dollars during July 2007, showing a slump of 1.03 million dollars.
