DigitalGlobe on Tuesday said it successfully launched a high-resolution satellite, WorldView-1, that will boost the accuracy of its satellite images and flesh out its archive.
The satellite will offer half-meter resolution and will be able to collect up to 750,000 square kilometres of half-meter imagery each day, said the privately held company, which provides high-resolution commercial satellite images.
Shortly after the launch from a Boeing Co Delta II rocket, a DigitalGlobe ground station received a signal confirming that the satellite successfully separated from its launch vehicle and had initialised its onboard computers.
