The Sindh Health Minister, Syed Sardar Ahmed will ask the federal government to waive import duty imposed on eliza kits for dengue fever as well as platelet bags. The minister while chairing a high level meeting with health department officials here on Thursday said.
The relief given during last outbreak of the disease had helped saving significant number of people through early diagnosis and care. He directed the EDOs health of all 28 districts of the province to meticulously compile and submit a daily report of suspected dengue fever cases.
He further ordered to collect reports from all public sector and private health care facilities, on daily basis and submit it to the Dengue Fever Monitoring Cell.
"The process will help evolve a strategy to combat further spread of the disease," commented the minister. He asked the Special Secretary for Health, Dr Abdul Majid and Director General Health, Dr Hadi Baksh Jatoi to invite stakeholders in Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad for their active participation.
The programme aims at creating general awareness as well as at professional level about dengue fever, its treatment and prevention.
The meeting also invited the superintendents of all teaching hospitals, vice chancellors of medical university, representatives of world health organisation to hold series of public awareness as well as scientific seminars for medical professionals regularly. He specially advised the EDO health, Karachi to advertise the prevention of dengue as per WHO guidelines.
