Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Barrister Sultan Mehmood has appreciated British Minister for Justice, Jack Straw for his efforts to help resolve longstanding Kashmir issue.
In a detail meeting with him at Southampton, United Kingdom, he also lauded services of the former British minister to help initiate dialogue process between Pakistan and India when their was a danger of war between the two neighbours in 2004.
Stressing more efforts for settlement of the core issue, he said Kashmir was the basic issue between Pakistan and India and opined peace could not be maintained unless this issue is resolved. During the meeting, Sultan Mehmood hailed Jack Straw's efforts as British minister and raising the Kashmir issue at European Union (EU) forum.
Sultan Mehmood asked Jack Straw to play a positive role for resolution of Kashmir issue as he (Straw) holds an important position in the UK Cabinet. He also sought cooperation from Jack Straw for well-being of expatriate Pakistanis and Kashmiris living in the UK who are part and parcel of British society.
