UK visa office starts function in Mirpur

28 Sep, 2007

The newly-established UK visa application center has started functioning here after the British Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan Simon Butt formally inaugurated the office here on Wednesday.
"I am delighted to open this visa application centre, which is a testament to our efforts continually to improve the visa service we offer here in Pakistan. The UK welcomes all genuine visitors from Pakistan and we believe this new centre will make the process of applying for a UK visa a easier", said Butt while inaugurating the office, located at Defence Road, Mirpur city. The ceremony was also attended by local business fraternity and the British High Commission in Islamabad.
A British Commission official said that from September 27 (Thursday) visa applications for the UK would be accepted only at one of the four UK visa application centers set up at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Mirpur Azad Kashmir. The centers will be operated by Gerry's International, the UK's visa partner in Pakistan. The centers will be a one-stop shop for UK visa applications, removing the need for them to travel to the British High Commission in Islamabad to submit their biometrics data.
