The provincial government under the "Punjab Dairy Development Programme", will provide one milk cooling tank to each unit consisting three to five villages. Punjab Minister for Livestock, Syed Haroon Ahmad Sultan told a delegation of farmers on Thursday.
He said, this arrangement would ensure supply of pure milk to the masses and appropriate payment to the dairy farmers, Further, he added that 700 milk-cooling tanks with capacity of 1000 litres are being distributed across Punjab. This programme will be carried out in different phases and 1000 villages have been selected in the first phase, Sultan said.
Referring to the eligibility he mentioned that cattle farmers, livestock farmers association, dairy association, milk market associations and community organisations could claim these tanks being offered on "no-profit-no-loss" basis and would help increasing the milk production.
