Flights schedule was badly disturbed Friday morning due to poor visibility at the Multan airport, PIA officials told APP. As a result of low visibility, PK-330 flight coming from Karachi at 0855 hours could not reach Multan. Consequently, the return flight No PK-331 could not operate.
The officials said if the visibility did not improve to the requisite level other flights, to and from the city, might also get affected. A thick duststorm, blowing at the speed of 30 km per hour, reduced the visibility from 3 km to only 200 meters, badly affecting the flights schedule here.
Local Met Office said the duststorm lashed the city and suburbs at 0515 hours in the morning. According to aviation experts, minimum visibility for safe operation of flights is 1.6 kilometre.
However, weather turned cool and pleasant, easing the hot spell that afflicted people of South Punjab quite since the advent of summers. Dust particles suspended in the atmosphere dimmed the sun light and brought down the temperature.
