Supreme Court verdict welcomed

Members of the ruling coalition in the Sindh Province have very warmly welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court on the dual-offices by President Pervez Musharraf and his contesting the presidential election in Uniform.
The decision of the Supreme Court created maximum public interest and people stayed tuned to their Radios and television sets to listen Supreme Court decision on the petitions against the holding of two offices by President Pervez Musharraf.
Most viewers with interest noted that it was not a unanimous decision but a majority decision rejecting the petitions. Everybody in the opposition is now looking forward to filing of review petitions against this decision.
While the ruling coalition parties were most happy over the decision by the Supreme Court Bench, there was great disappointment among the opposition parties who felt that the Supreme Court decision has come as a great disappointment to them.
Meanwhile, people also noted with interest the statement by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, after the Supreme Court decision, warning against any violent agitation against the Supreme Court decision would be dealt with sternly.
