'Sino-Pak ties based on solid foundations'

Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said the Sino-Pak ties in the economic, industrial and agricultural sectors are based on solid foundations and are strengthening with the passage of time.
He met Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui here on Friday, saying, "China is close to the heart of every Pakistani and peoples of both the countries are bound together in deep and lasting friendly relations. The government is taking effective measures for the security of Chinese brethren and all out incentives are being provided to Chinese investors in the province, he added.
The chief minister congratulated the Chinese Ambassador on the 58th national day of China and said both countries had stood together in the time of need. He said China was making rapid progress due to which more opportunities of investment are becoming available.
The Chief Minster said agreements signed between Punjab and Jiangsu provinces in economic sectors during his visit to China are being implemented and are yielding glorious results. "Separate industrial zones have been set up for Chinese investors in Lahore, Faisalabad and other industrial estates. acres of land has been allocated for Chinese investors in Faisalabad Industrial Estate where China National Power Company is also setting up a power plant.
Land has been provided for setting up a separate industrial zone for Chinese investors in Sundar Industrial Estate Lahore. A special cell has also been established at Chief Minister House to facilitate Chinese investors and to remove all hurdles in the way of investment," he added.
Pervaiz Elahi said that China was extending commendable cooperation for the socio-economic development of Pakistan. There are opportunities of further cooperation between the two countries in mining, chemical, building material, cement, machinery and livestock sectors, he added.
He said that China was also co-operating with Pakistan in education, information technology as well as construction projects. He added that the Chinese companies are playing an important role in the construction of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway and IT sector.
He further said that the Pak-China friendship is exemplary and a symbol of glorious future of both the countries. Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui appreciated the measures taken by the Punjab Chief Minister for the progress and development of the province and said the facilities extended to the Chinese investors will further cement economic ties between the two countries.
"There are opportunities of close cooperation of Punjab with Jiangsu and as well as other provinces. Mutual exchange of visits of delegations of traders between the two countries will further promote mutual relations," he added.
