Child custody case: LHC adjourns hearing till October 1

29 Sep, 2007

The Lahore High Court on Friday adjourned till October 1 the hearing of a petition filed by a French national Pakistani Muhammad Ashfaq challenging harassment on part of her former French wife and police.
The judge observed that the petition should be heard with the main petition filed by French lady Peggy Collin seeking recovery of her seven-year old child who was allegedly abducted by her former husband Ashfaq.
Petitioner through his counsel submitted that her former French wife Peggy had filed a petition against him for the recovery of her seven-year old child Omar Malik.
The counsel said the police raided his client's residence, but the alleged abducted child was not with him. He told the court to restrain the police from conducting raids at his client's house and her former wife from blackmailing him through legal proceedings. Earlier Justice Hamid on the petition of Peggy had directed Sheikhupura police to recover Omar Malik from the custody of his father and produce him on October 01.
