Auto vendor industry: Smeda chief requests JICA to provide more experts

Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) Chief Executive Officer Shahid Rashid has requested the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide more experts for the joint programme of Smeda and JICA to improve efficiency of the auto vendor industry in Pakistan.
He was addressing a meeting at Al-Bader Engineering, Sheikhupura that has recently been treated as 37th project of the said programme. Kiyoshi Yoshida, a senior Japanese automotive expert along with Smeda team has redesigned the layout of rim plant at the factory resulting into 56 percent productivity improvement.
The CEO Smeda examined the concrete improvements occurred at the plant as a result of Smeda-JICA intervention at Al-Badar Engineering Company. He requested Yoshida to further strengthen JICA support for auto industry of Pakistan by providing more experts to Smeda. He was of the view that such activities should expand to excel with much greater pace for having larger impact on the industry. He invited Pakistan Association of Auto-parts and Accessories Manufacturing (PAAPAM) to extend the best cooperation and support SMEDA-JICA activity for technical uplift of the auto vendor industry.
The CEO Al-Badar Engineering, Mushtaq Butt while expressing his views on this occasion appreciated the efforts of Smeda and JICA in upgrading the Automotive Vendors in terms of quality improvement, productivity improvement and cost reduction. He said that his company was committed to disseminate this improvement activity to all sections of the factory.
