AKCSP hands over Shigar Fort to TPSP

03 Oct, 2007

The Aga Khan Cultural Services Pakistan (AKCSP) has handed over management of Shigar Fort to Tourism Promotion Services Pakistan (TPSP), the owners of Serena Hotels. A signing ceremony to hand over the operations of the Shigar Fort Residence to the management of Serena Hotels was held here on Tuesday.
The agreement was signed by Akbarali Pesnani, Chairman of AKCSP and Aziz Boolani, Chief Executive Officer, TPSP, says a press release. Pesnani hoped that with the combined synergies of both these groups, the Shigar Fort would be managed in an optimum combination of cultural heritage and hospitality.
Boolani commented that it was an honour and a privilege for Serena Hotels to be taking over the SFR. The TPSP will also add value to the Shigar Fort by offering it extensive advertising, networking and reservation support. These support services will provide a lot of assistance and ease of travel to tourists from Pakistan and overseas, he said.
Shigar Fort, which extensive six-year restoration was accomplished by the AKCSP in earlier 2005, will be open to tourists providing them an exclusively imperial accommodation. 13 historical guest rooms are located in the original old Fort while seven conventional guest rooms with modern amenities have been added in the Garden House, a new construction using traditional materials and building techniques in keeping with the historical architecture of Shigar Fort.-PR
