Karachi Traffic police have announced the route plan on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali to be observed on Thursday. According to the arrangements made on October 4 at 1300 hour, a procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park, which will terminate at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian at 2100 hour.
The procession will pass through Nishtar Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto road, Father Jaminis road, M. A. Jinnah Road, Mainsfield Street, Again M.A Jinnah road, Boltan Market, Rampat Rai road, Nawab Mahabat Khanjhee road to Hussnainian Iranian Imambargah.
As soon as the procession will start from Nishtar Park, all traffic coming from the city side will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang road from the junction of M. A. Jinnah road/Dr Dawood Pota Road ie (Frere Chowk).
All traffic on Bahadur Yar Jang road from its junction with Dr Dawood Pota Road upto its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan road - now one way. All buses/mini buses/trucks coming from Nazimabad side shall be diverted to Nishtar road towards Zoological Garden from Lasbella intersection.
All buses/minibuses/trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted to Martin road towards jail side. These vehicles shall, however, be permitted to proceed up to jail and then proceed via Jamshed Road upto the junction of Dada Bhouy Norji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahrah-e-Quaideen and proceed upto Gora Qabrustan crossing via Shahra-e-Faisal and the via Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star Sarwar Shaheed road, Dr Dawood Pota road, Preedy street to their normal routes.
When the head of the procession reach at the junction of M.A Jinnah road/Mansfield Street, these vehicles shall proceed straight from 603, EME workshop towards Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, till the situation permits. Then these vehicles shall be diverted on to the I.I Chundrigar road from the junction of court road/Moulana Din Mohammad Wafai road.
Similarly, all buses, mini buses and other heavy vehicles approaching from Stadium side road shall proceed via new M.A Jinnah road, these vehicles shall be diverted on to Dada Bhouy Noorji road towards Kashmir road, from its junction with new M.A Jinnah road.
All trucks/mini buses/buses, approaching from Super Highways side shall be diverted from Dak-khana Chowrangi towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No 1 and shall proceed along Altaf Hussain Barailvi road, Manghopir road, Habib bank Chowraangi, Estate Avenue road, She Shah, Mauripur road, for return journey these vehicles shall proceed on the same route.
Similarly, all buses minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway side shall proceed via Rashid Minhas road, Stadium road, University road, Jail Chowrangi, Jail road/Martin road, Teen Hatty, Nishtar road, Lasbella Chowk Nawab Siddiq Ali Khan road, Altaf Hussain Barailvi road, Manghopir road, Habib Bank Chowk, Estate Avenue road, Sher Shah, Mauripur road. For return journey these vehicles shall adopt the same route.
The car traffic shall not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir Roundabout. These vehicles shall be diverted on to the Bahadur Yar Jang road again on to Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan road and shall proceed via Nishtar road.
Under no circumstance these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Bahadur Yar Jang road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan road. All car traffic coming from Quaid-i-Azam Mazar side along M.A Jinnah road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang road. No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards old exhibition under any circumstances.
All vehicular traffic approaching old Exhibition/Numaish Chowrangi via Shara-e-Quaideen (except) these arriving participating in the processing having stickers pasted on their windscreens issued form this office) shall not be permitted to proceed from the roundabout behind Mazar Quaid-i-Azam towards old exhibition.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies shall not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market form the junction of: (a) Preedy Street/Sarmad road, (b) Preedy Street/M.A Jinnah road, (c) Shara-e-Liaquat/Court road, (d) Shara-e-Liaquat/Muhammad Bin Qasim road, when the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A Jinnah road/Mansfield Street.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street, Aga Khan road and Mansfield Street. No vehicles shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A Jinnah road from the junction of M.A Jinnah Road /Preedy Street when the procession clear the intersection.
The vehicular traffic on Aga Khan road form Zoological Garden shall not be permitted to proceed towards M. A. Jinnah road Aga Khan road, Bandre road (near Ankle-saria Hospital). The traffic on Martin road shall flow one-way and shall not be permitted to contravene one-way.
The stretch of the road between the junction of Nawab Mahabat Khanjee road, Shidi Village road, Aga Khan road, Delumel Chela Ram road will be out of bound to all public conveyance ie trucks, buses, minibuses and motorcycles, rickshaws etc.
