More than 341,000 flour bags have been supplied to five big cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan and Faisalabad on Wednesday, said Food Punjab Minister Hussain Jahanian Gerdezi chairing a meeting of the Provincial Price Stabilisation Committee. Chief Secretary Punjab Salman Siddique and other concerned authorities also attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Hussain Jahanian Gardezi said that 137,793 bags have been supplied to Rawalpindi, 73,946 in Lahore, 54,657 in Gujranwala, 34,305 in Multan while 41,204 flour bags have been provided in Faisalabad. He said the Punjab government has appointed DCOs of all the districts as focal persons regarding supply and monitoring of atta and retailers or general public can contact them in case of any difficulty with regard to price or supply of flour.
He said special instructions have also been issued to district governments in connection with monitoring of prices of daily use items and district Nazims are playing an important role to control prices of the same in their respective districts.
Hussain Jahanian Gardezi said that due to joint efforts of district governments and price control committees, prices of essential items have reduced. The meeting also reviewed in detail the supply and prices of vegetables and fruits and expressed its satisfaction over substantial decrease in the prices of fruits and vegetables.
