Presidential poll marred with violence: PML-N

07 Oct, 2007

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Finance Secretary Mohammad Pervaiz Malik has said that against the claims of government, the presidential elections were marred with protests, violence, resignations, disintegration of political fabrics and the presidential electorate.
Addressing the protest meeting of PML-N workers here on Saturday, Malik said this election also exposed the politicians and parliament members having double faces and hypocritical stance. It also witnessed the most unfortunate 'National Reconciliation Ordinance' (NRO), which exposed what he called 'power hungry Musharraf and Benazir'.
He said the people have witnessed the double faces and soon the people will reject them and eliminate them from the national politics in the forthcoming general elections.
The PML-N leader said under the garb of boycott, the PPP has withdrawn its candidate in favour of Musharraf and thus helped him in the presidential polls. Why the JUI-F and PPP MPAs other than PML-N, ANP and JI, who resigned en bloc, went to the NWFP Assembly and to whom they cast their votes despite clear announcement of boycott, he questioned.
He also said that amidst dirty politics of hypocrisy, blackmailing and hunger for power caring little for rules, norms and morality, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and the APDM parties, which joined in the collective resignation move stood clean hand on practiced politics of principles and moral ethics. The people are witnessing that they are free from hypocrisy and filthy politics, he added.
