Minister terms October 6 a historic day

Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan has termed October 6 a historic day for the country. Talking to APP here on Saturday he said that the unity and strength of the PML (Q) and its allied parties demonstrated in presidential election would also be reflected in the upcoming general elections and they would sweep it due to its performance.
Salim Saifullah said the election was held in a free, fair and transparent manner and no incident of law and order situation was reported from any part of the country.
The Minister said that the hue and cry of the Opposition parties to dissolve the NWFP Assembly and disturb the electoral college was failed. Members of the National Assembly and Senate, of all the four provincial assemblies cast their votes.
He said that it was an encouraging step that uncertainty in the country has come to an end and the Presidential election was held according to the scheduled announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said that the re-election of President Musharraf for next term would further strengthen democracy and bring stability in the country. Salim Saifullah said that the National Reconciliation Ordinance was in the best national interest of the country.
