ICT to continue crackdown on profiteers

Acting Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed has directed Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates to intensify the anti-profiteering drive in their respective jurisdictions and keep monitoring the prices of items of daily use on daily basis.
He said Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration would continue crackdown against the profiteers for the availability of consumers' items at affordable rates.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (City), Maryam Khan and City Magistrate, Kamran Ali Cheema conducted surprise checking at Sunday Bazar in Sector G-9 and Sasta Bazar in Sector G-7 on Sunday and imposed heavy fine on three stall holders at Sunday Bazar for not displaying rate list.
The stall-holders were issued warning to display the rate list of food items and also ensure the quality of food items failing which strict action will be taken against he defaulters. The Magistrate also warned that on going anti-profiteering drive would continue to check the profiteering trend strictly.
Assistant Commissioner (City) and City Magistrate also checked security arrangements at weekly bazaars and directed the police officials and private security guards to remain extra vigilant and beef up security at weekly bazaars, market and shopping centres in the wake of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Maryam Khan also met with the CDA officials of weekly bazaars and directed them to ensure the availability of food items at the controlled rates and rates of weekly bazaar should be lower than the rates of open market.
Meanwhile City Magistrate, Kamran Ali Cheema during price checking at G-7 Sasta Bazaar directed the stall-holders to ensure the quality of food items.
