Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said that the government was pursuing a multi-year programme in the earthquake-hit areas with a motto to 'rebuild better than before', by utilising all possible resources.
"We are making efforts to bring back normalcy in the lives of the people inflicted by the country's worst disaster in October 2005, by providing them all amenities of life in a better manner," he said while addressing the inaugural session of Economic Co-operation Organisation (ECO) International Conference on Disaster Risk Management to commemorate the 'National Disaster Awareness Day' here. One-minute silence was observed on the occasion, in remembrance of those who died in the catastrophic earthquake on October 8, 2005 morning.
