Supreme Court orders fresh elections for district Nazim

Supreme Court has directed Election Commission to hold fresh elections for the office of District Nazim, Kasur. The Judgement was given by a three member Bench of Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan- Mr Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Mr Justice Shakirullah Jan and Mr Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad.
The judgement stated: "Thus for the foregoing reasons Civil Petition No 2035-L of 2005 filed by Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan (District Nazim Kasur) is dismissed and Civil Petition No 2198-L of 2005 filed by Rana Muhammad Imtiaz Khan is converted into appeal and allowed with no order as to costs.Consequently, the Election Commission of Pakistan is directed to hold fresh elections for the office of District Nazim, Kasur according to law".
