FBR's clarification

10 Oct, 2007

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has clarified that three hard drives carrying non-vital data handled by the clerical staff were misplaced. FBR official spokesman Imran Ghaznavi said here on Tuesday that certain quarters have given a wrong impression about the misplacement of IT equipment. Only 3 hard drives and not 13 have been misplaced in the board.
Secondly, the routine data on the hard drives was maintained by the low grade staff, which has no significance. However, the inquiry has been initiated and necessary measures have been ensured to avoid such incidents in future, Imran added.
Meanwhile, FBR Administration Wing is seriously working on scientific lines to maintain security at the FBR House through installation of devices and other necessary equipment.
The Admin Wing, headed by Member (Admn) Major General Muhammad Yasin (Retd), has taken key measures under the Tax Administration Reform Project (TARP) for proper security and surveillance of new reformed units including Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs). The system of transfer and postings and promotions has also been streamlined under the reforms, sources added.
