Nazim appreciates people for rejecting APDM's strike

City District Nazim, Mian Faisal Mukhtar denouncing the oppositions' resignations appreciated the people and traders, who rejected the strike, called by the All Parities Democratic Movement (APDM). Talking to Nazims at an Iftar-Dinner here on Tuesday, he said.
The City District Government Multan was working on various sectors including education, health, agriculture and industry to reduce poverty and create new job opportunities.
The government has taken measures to protect the life and property of citizens, he said and added that three Rescue 1122 centres are being established in Multan while a new telephone number of the Crime Emergency Centre would soon be announced on the pattern of the rescue 1122.
He said that Punjab Government under the dynamic leadership of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi had set-up a satellite communication system in the province, which would monitor the performance of the highway police, patrolling posts, health centres, educational institutions and police stations.
It would also be helpful in improving the efficiency of institutions, he added. Faisal Mukhtar said that President Pervez Musharraf had promoted democracy in the country and strengthened the economy besides improving the country's image.
