Sindh-born great Sindhi writer and poet Kirshan Khatwani expired in India on Thursday. His son Dr Moti Parkash informed Sindhi writers here on phone that Khatwani expired at 11am in a hospital in Indore city of India.
Few days back he was admitted in Indore hospital due to acute pain in kidney, which proved fatal for him. Kirshan Khatwani was born in Tharoo Shah town, district Naushehro Feroze of Sindh on 7 November 1927. Khatwani got his education from Karachi and then Indore University of India. Eight books of his short stories, seven novels and a collection of poetry was published.
His one book of drama was also published. Few of his books are included as textbooks in Bombay University and colleges of Pune. His four books were translated in Hindi. In all he wrote 21 books. He had served as representative of Sindhi language in Sahtia Academy of Madhya Pardesh. Ibrahim Joyo and Sobho Gianchandani are among his childhood friends.
Leaders of Sindh Adabi Sangat and Sindhi writers, intellectuals and poets including Taj Joyo, Ibrahim Joyo, Professor Aziz Solangi, Abdul Wahid Ariser, Ghulam Mustafa Memon advocate, Roshan Sunder Chandio advocate chairman of Sindh Cultural Sangat and others have condoled death of great Sindh writer.
