American Tower International Inc (AMT) is exploring acquisitions in Indian telecoms tower companies and considering managing tower businesses of Indian telecom operators, the mint newspaper said on Saturday. "We are already in discussions with several operators in the country," Amit Sharma, Asia president, American Tower International, told the paper.
Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are planning to sell up to 25 percent equity in their infrastructure subsidiaries to unlock value in their tower business, the paper said. Others such as Quipo Telecom Infrastructure Private Ltd, Essar Telecom Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and GTL Infrastructure Ltd are also rolling out tower assets, the paper said.
