Burundi coffee prices have risen over the last few weeks due to fears of a supply crunch in Brazil, a coffee board official said on Friday. The state-run Burundi Coffee Board (OCIBU) said traders in the tiny central African nation sold 180 tonnes of washed coffee at $1.06 per pound.
Over the last three weeks compared to 530 tonnes sold at $0.90 per pound in August and part of September. Manirakiza said buyers offered $1.20 per pound for some top grade coffee.
