Jute import up by 288.89 percent in August

Import of jute has shot up by 288.89 percent during August 2007 as compared to 745 million dollars imports in the previous month, said official statistics. According to the statistics, jute worth 2.892 million dollars of jute was imported in August 2007 as compared to 745 million dollars in July, with a robust growth of 288.89 percent or 742.108 million dollars.
Similarly, during August 2007, the country made jute import of 2.892 million dollars against only 775 million dollars during August 2006, witnessing an upsurge of 273.16 percent or 772.108 million dollars.
During August 2007, the country imported jute worth 2.892 million dollars against only 775 million dollars during August 2006, with an increase of 273.16 percent or 772.108 million dollars.
However, jute import recorded lower growth comparatively, as it stood at 3.637 million dollars during the first two months of the 2007 fiscal year as compared to 2.989 million dollars during the corresponding period of the 2006 fiscal year, showing a growth of 21.68 percent or 0.648 million dollars.
