Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif be allowed to come back to Pakistan. Sheikh Rashid told BBC in an interview. "Nawaz Sharif went abroad under a deal, while Benazir Bhutto was away from the country due to her cases in the courts.
The government has advised former Prime Minister and self-exiled opposition leader Ms Benazir Bhutto to postpone her return plan to the country. She had announced that she would land at Karachi International Airport on October 18. "I don't know the reasons as to why Benazir Bhutto has been asked to delay her return," Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said when asked as to why the government is insisting on delay of her return. "If the government is not sharing these reasons, why should I say something," he said.
Asked is there any other reason besides court and security, the Railways minister said he does not see any other reason. "The government might be avoiding any untoward incident which might disturb election atmosphere". When asked if the rulers or army not want their return, he said the Army is almost out of the politics. "Its role is a matter of a few days. President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are two sides of the same coin. Shaukat Aziz follows the line of President Musharraf".
