19 Oct, 2007

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has condemned federal ministers for making threats against the court, saying it is a contempt of court. Vice President Sahibzada Anwer Hameed, Secretary Syed Zulfiqar and Muhammad Azhar told reporters that such attitude towards the judiciary exposed them as dictators, adding.
"They are trying to undermine judges who are hearing the cases against President Pervez Musharraf." They said they hoped the court would act against such statements issued in a string of pending cases against President Musharraf.
On the arrival of former premier Benazir Bhuttoo in Pakistan, they said such political events would promote democracy in the country and said they hoped Benazir would work for democracy and force the military to get back to the barracks.
