Income tax returns date extended to October 31

In view of a number of representations received from trade bodies of Karachi and other parts of the country, the government has further extended the date for filing income tax returns to October 30, 2007.
According to a Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announcement on Saturday, though the field offices and the bank branches remained open for extended time on Saturday, it was realised that there was large number of taxpayers who could not file their returns.
Therefore, the date of filing of returns has been extended to facilitate the taxpayers. It is hoped that the taxpayers will respond to the good gesture of the government and will file the returns within the extended date, the board said.
