Synthetic fibre's import falls by 22 percent

The import of synthetic fibre has lessened by 22 percent during the first two months (July-August) of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of 2006, according to official statistics.
The country has imported 35.926 million dollars of synthetic fibre during August and July 2007 as compared to 45.837 million dollars during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year of 2006, showing a decline of 9.911 million dollars or 22 percent in import.
Similarly, during August 2007, import of the synthetic fibre went down by 4.61 million dollars or 20 percent. The country's import of synthetic fibre remained 18.607 million dollars as compared to 23.217 million dollars during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2006.
On monthly basis, import of the synthetic fibre witnessed a growth of 1.288 million dollars or 7.44 percent during August 2007 as compared to 17. 319 million dollars during July 2007.
