Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto now has no role in future politics of the country. Speaking to a press conference on Tuesday, he said support to the imperialism in the country would ultimately instigate suicide attacks.
"It is evident from homecoming of Benazir that whoever comes with US policy would also have to face reaction," he added. Sheikh was of the view that PPP chairperson should have invited extremists for talks before the twin blasts in Karachi instead of after occurrence of the incident.
"Benazir Bhutto should provide Rs 10 million to heirs of each victim of Karachi blasts from her treasure to compensate the lives of common people to some extent," he said.
Commenting on three names provided to the government by PPP leader as masterminds of the attacks, federal minister said that it was just part of the game. "Chaudhry Shujaat would definitely name Benazir if she accused Chaudhry Pervez Elahi."
He revealed that the president was agreed only to annul the law stopping anyone to become Prime Minister for the third time. However, it was decided in talks between the federal cabinet and Benazir to withdraw cases against the former premier, Sheikh Rasheed claimed.
About the upcoming elections, he informed that interim set up would be announced a week before end of tenure of present assemblies. "General elections would be held within 90 days if assemblies are dissolved on November 14 while the elections would be held within 60 days in case assemblies are dissolved on November 15." Sheikh said that in upcoming elections he would aboard any of the political train besides claiming that Muttahida Qaumi Movement would have greater role in future.
Giving details on projects underway in Railways, he apprised that 18-inch diameter pipe would be installed to provide water to City Station at a cost of Rs 400 million. The minister said that track between Lahore and Karachi would be made double before December 31.
