Welfare fund for PPP workers announced

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) overseas foundation has announced workers welfare fund for the workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party on the instructions of Benazir Bhutto who died on October 18th bombings on the welcome rally of Benazir Bhutto in Karachi. The purpose of this fund is to help party workers, journalists and policeman.
Benazir Bhutto will herself distribute this money. While addressing the press conference, Sheikh Nadeem Elahi, co-ordinator of Peoples Worker Welfare Fund gave a cheque of Rs 100,000 for the cameraman of ARY Arif Khan who died while performing his professional duties. He announced that the fund would provide bullet-proof jackets to the guards of Benazir, journalists of print and electronic media for performing their professional duties.
While answering the question, Nadeem said that in the second phase party will extend its support to the workers who sacrificed their lives in their struggle for democracy right from the days of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto up till now. He also said that overseas party workers were planning to raise one million dollars to be made on permanent basis.
Elahi announced office-bearers of the Workers' Welfare Fund. Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar is the convenor, other members include Nawab Yusaf Talpur Sindh, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Sheikh Manzoor Elahi, retired justice Sharif Hussain Bokhari Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz (UK) president, Lubna Elahi general secretary, Shakeel Siddiqui (Europe) finance secretary.
