President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal has said that we are targeting manifold exports promotion with the functioning of Sialkot International Airport and in this direction the local business community was planning to set up of "Food and Vegetable Processing/Packing" Centre near Sialkot International Airport.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday he said that the proposed vegetable centre would help in exporting fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers from Sialkot which would also help in enhancing the extort volume of the area.
Apart from this the President SCCI said that efforts were also being made for the establishment of "Soccer Ball Village" in this export-oriented city, which is hub of cottage industry of the country.
The proposed village would be spread over 100 acres where stitching centres would be established while contractors would be asked to shift there to the village, he said.
Waheed Sandal said that Sialkot is catering 85 percent of the total world demand of hand stitched inflatable balls that are translated into around 40 million balls annually worth 210 million dollars while 200,000 workers are engaged either direct or indirectly with the industry.
